If you've yet to try out the latest game in the series, now's the time to jump in.
The original Mortal Kombat X was an excellent fighting game that was already stuffed with content to begin with, and Mortal Kombat XL just gives you even more of it. It's a bummer, but if you want to stay current with Mortal Kombat, you'll have to play on console. While Mortal Kombat X and Kombat Pack 1 launched for PC, the title was riddled with problems at launch, and NetherRealm has opted (as confirmed in this forum post) to stop supporting that version of the game. Wait, there's no PC version of Mortal Kombat XL? Developer NetherRealm Studios is also working on a revamped online experience for the game, which will be available to all players at no extra cost.
Starting March 1, all MKX owners will get the game's latest balance updates, a new stage called The Pit X, and a Medieval Costume Pack that includes new skins for Kotal Kahn, Kung Jin and Ferra Torr. This is a case of NeatherRealm legitimately trying to come out as the good guy, but is it nearly enough? Many have criticized Mortal Kombat X, myself included, for things like being able to purchase the entire Krypt for $20, or the fact that people can purchase ‘Easy Fatalities’ because the Internet is hard. Klassic Mileena and Kitana are available via the Mortal Kombat X mobile app, so it’s hopefully only a matter of time before we can get a Klassic Scorpion, Raiden, or Liu Kang. The costume looks pretty slick and for the unbeatable price of free there is not much to complain about! Hopefully this trend will continue and we will get more Klassic skins with patch updates. The new Reptile MKX Klassic skin keeps the scales and basic character model from his standard costume, but puts him back in his original threads. He had skin like a human until Mortal Kombat 4, where he traded his generic MK ninja garb for some green scales. As many of you may know, Reptile was originally just a pallete swap character that was green instead of blue or yellow. The new skin is pretty awesome, but it’s not quite as Klassic as you might think. Some costumes have methods we've yet to whittle down completely yet, but the most common theories and tried methods are listed. They are keeping good on their promises, and just like last month’s free Klassic Sub Zero skin, players can expect to find a fresh new Klassic Reptile included with the latest patch update… sort of.
